IQRA College, Ilorin was established in Year 2000, following parents’ earnest demand to further the unmatched educational standard in IQRA Nursery/Primary school which was established two years earlier. The template upon which the two were founded was, and has been, to fashion a unique par excellence curriculum for children throughout the nation. This foundation stone has not in the least waned in the years of the college’s existence as the vision of the college is to be a world-class institution.
IQRA College, Ilorin has an enriched curriculum that places equal emphasis on western and Islamic education and has been excelling in both. The Islamic education component includes Qur’an reading (with tejwid) and memorization, Arabic and fiqh. The College holds Walimatul-Qur’an every year. We also provide career guidance and leadership training. Our environment is highly conducive to learning, consciousness of Allah, integrity building and moral development. The College has continued to offer high quality and balanced education with enriched curriculum. We won the last rating as the best secondary school in Kwara State in 2017. We look set to retain our lead as the recently released WAEC SSSCE results show that we scored 100% credit pass. In the language of the ‘old school’, five out of the 65 students we presented for the examination had the equivalent of Grade 1 Distinction while the rest had the equivalent of Grade 1 except only one student who had the equivalent of Grade 2.
As part of the strategy to promote total child development, it is mandatory for every student in SS 3 to choose a topic, research into it and write a paper. The paper is presented at a public forum (seminar) attended by intellectuals, parents and other guests. Questions are freely asked after each presentation to demonstrate that the work is original and that the students have acquired research and presentation skills before graduation. This, without doubt, prepares the graduates of IQRA College, Ilorin for the universe outside the secondary school, i.e. higher institutions.
Alhamdulillah, our schools have been a huge success story: more than two-thirds (2/3) of graduating students of IQRA College secure university admission barely three (3) months after graduating from our school. This is in spite of the very stiff competition for university admission in Nigeria. What is more? Most of them graduate from the university in flying colours.
To the glory of Allah, five (5) old students of the college have graduated from various universities with first class degrees.
